The following is regarded as poor practice

  • Leaving the site without seeing the farmer

  • Failing to show your finds to the land owner

  • Leaving large holes on the site (Cover all holes whatever the stated of the field, especially seeded)

  • Take all scrap metal home, do not leave on the surface

  • Forgetting to close gates
